Fundamentals of Written Communication
Upon successful completion of this course, students will successfully be able to:
1. Utilize and follow the writing process including planning, drafting, editing, and revising.
2. Utilize the use of correct grammar, punctuation, and mechanics in composition and practice using complex sentence structure.
3. Develop cohesive and unified paragraphs.
4. Compose an effective and comprehensive thesis statement.
5. Present, organize, communicate, and evaluate ideas in writing modes such as exposition and argumentation.
6. Compose a research paper that answers a well-defined research question, thesis, or topic using correct MLA citation and documentation format to avoid plagiarism.
7. Practice using research tools and techniques.
8. Evaluate the authority and credibility of source material in various formats such as web, database, and print (traditional) sources.
